| February 01, 1999 Nevada Goes Hollywood, So That Hollywood Will Come Here Las Vegas, Nv. -- The Nevada Film office believes the phrase, "Lights, camera ... action!" will be heard more often here in Las Vegas and throughout the state in general because the Film Office is heading to the Los Angeles Convention Center in February to exhibit at the 14th annual Association of Film Commissioners International Locations '99 trade show. According to Charles Geocaris, Director of the Nevada Film Office, "Exhibiting at the Locations '99 trade show is important to the State of Nevada. It's the only trade show where our state's Film Office is on display and we can talk one-on-one to thousands of producers and location managers who need locations to shoot motion pictures, television shows, commercials, music and corporate videos, and multi-media presentations. Location shooting makes a significant contribution to our economy. Production companies hire local crews and talent, rent local equipment and automobiles, work out of local offices and editing facilities, stay in local hotels and apartments, use local catering companies and buy a myriad of other goods and services required for on-location shooting." In the last three years alone, literally hundreds of productions for movies, television, commercials, music projects, and more shot in Nevada generated an average of over $70 million annually for the statewide economy. "Film, television, music, and other productions are not only extremely profitable for the state of Nevada, they're non-polluting, self-perpetuating industries," states Robin Holabird, Deputy Director for the Nevada Film Office. "The more productions of this type we attract, the more visible we become, and that makes Nevada an even more desirable location choice. raising our visibility is very important to the Nevada Film Office, and 'Locations '99' is a key event to further that goal."
