Entertainment Industry Attorney/Executive Producer Will Discuss Federal Tax Incentives For Local Film Productions

LAS VEGAS, Nv. - High profile film industry attorney and executive producer, Hal "Corky" Kessler, will be at the Clark County Library May 9 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. to discuss how local filmmakers and investors can profit from the American Jobs Creation Act, 2004.

Under Section 181 of this Act, filmmakers and their investors receive tax incentives for investing in film productions. Unless congress extends the Act, however, it will expire on January 1, 2009. It is Kessler's intention to create awareness of the Act so that the U.S. film industry may prosper as much as possible. "Few people know about this law, and yet it can affect many productions," says Charlie Geocaris, director of the Nevada Film Office. "Mr. Kessler knows the law inside and out and can explain it clearly."

His presentation is sponsored by the Nevada Film Office and is free and open to anyone in the film industry or anyone interested in investing in film productions. Filmmakers, business professionals and investors can learn how the federal tax incentives can benefit them. Film students are also encouraged to attend, as the law applies to their film projects as well.

Kessler has extensive corporate and entertainment law experience. He has also executive produced many feature films, theater and television projects. Kessler is an entertainment and business attorney in Chicago, but continues to travel the country speaking to filmmakers and industry investors.
