Location Spotlight: Cactus Pete’s

Located less than a mile from the Idaho border is a small unincorporated community called Jackpot, NV – population 1,195 as of the 2010 census. Jackpot was founded after Idaho outlawed all forms of casino gambling in 1954. “Cactus Pete” Piersanti relocated his gaming establishment from Idaho to the Jackpot town site and named it Cactus Pete’s Desert Lodge. The establishment of Cactus Pete’s and the Horseshu Hotel and Casino in the same year is actually considered the founding of Jackpot.

Jackpot has remained a popular casino gaming destination for Idaho residents and consists of five main hotels and motels with casinos. Cactus Pete’s is the largest one, with 300 rooms. It offers more than 600 slot machines, two gaming pits with 20 table games, a seven-table live poker room, and a keno lounge and sports book.

Other features and amenities include:

  • Indoor concert hall (known as the Gala Showroom)
  • Outdoor amphitheater
  • 10-story hotel tower
  • 4 restaurant and fine dining options
  • Olympic-sized swimming pool
  • 18-hole golf course
  • Salon

Plenty of parking, including more than 90 RV spaces, is also available for production vehicles.
