The Charleston Heights Arts Center is a 41 year old facility located in and owned by the city of Las Vegas. The center offers a wide variety of programs and classes for the visual arts, performing arts, dance, music, voice, and more. Consisting of an art gallery, theater, and ballroom, Charleston Heights Arts Center also presents rotating art exhibits, shows, and other performances.
The center recently underwent a $2.1 million remodeling project, which included the following upgrades:
- A new roof with Thermoplastic Polyolefin
- New paint, new carpet, and five new air conditioners
- New exterior building sign was installed as well as a new trash enclosure
- Bathrooms were remodeled to become ADA-compliant (this required an extension of the building in the front)
- Offices were reconfigured to create two additional classrooms
- All drop ceilings were replaced
- Gas service was added
- Lighting fixtures, electrical wiring, and the transformer were replaced
- The building was made compliant with current fire safety codes
- New permanent sound system was installed in the 365-seat Jeanne Roberts Theatre, which allows onstage microphones to be operated from the audience seating with iPads
