Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in the northwestern part of Las Vegas, NV. Founded in 1970 by William Gilcrease, this eight-acre sanctuary is home to more than 500 rescued birds and animals.

Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary’s mission is to care for and protect at risk animals and to inspire the preservation of wildlife through education and environmental sustainability (source).

In addition to being a safe haven for hundreds of domestic and exotic birds from ducks to swans, emus, ostriches, macaws, and even toucans, the sanctuary is also home to a variety of other wildlife. These include llamas, goats, giant tortoises, pigs, donkeys, horses, and a mule-deer named “Bambi.”

The Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary is an old-fashioned farm with an outside amphitheater for musical events, arts and crafts, theatre, and other community events. It has recently undergone a few renovations to improve its pond and filtration system as well as new landscaping.
