The iconic “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign is one of the world’s most famous landmarks. Designed by the late Betty Willis in 1959 and currently owned by the Young Electric Sign Company (YESCO), the design was never trademarked as Willis offered it as her “gift to the city” so photos of the sign are not copyright-restricted. However, YESCO does reserve the right to restrict usage if the use has a negative impact.

Located in the median at 5100 Las Vegas Boulevard South, the Las Vegas welcome sign used to be difficult to access until a series of enhancement projects were completed between 2008-2015 to include a parking lot, a paved walkway, loading areas for buses and limos, and marked crosswalks with traffic signals. Prior to the projects, there was no parking available at the sign and visitors had to cross the traffic-filled Las Vegas Boulevard in order to reach the median, so the new features have made huge improvements in public safety.

Featured in countless film and television productions, music videos, photo shoots and even video games, there is nothing more classic and timeless than the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign. If you would like to shoot your next production here at the famous Las Vegas welcome sign, be sure to contact the Las Vegas Metro Police Department for more information regarding police offer staffing to ensure a safe and successful filming experience.
