Named for its pyramid-shaped tufa formations along the shores and in the lake, Pyramid Lake is one of the largest natural lakes in Nevada.

Breathtaking, magnificent, serene, and peaceful are just a few words used by visitors to describe their experience at Pyramid Lake. Other visitors just can’t even find the words to describe it.

If you are looking for a beautiful outdoor film location with a unique landscape and deep colorful water (did we mention that its colors change from gray to green to turquoise to deep blue?), Pyramid Lake may be just what you’re looking for.

Only 30 minutes from Reno, some very well-known movie and TV productions have been filmed at Pyramid Lake including The Greatest Story Ever Told (used as a stand-in for the Sea of Galilee) and The Misfits (the last film Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable completed). Here are a few more:
