A new Western movie studio in Virginia City, NV opened in recent years to solve a common problem with filming in populated cities – background noises. When filmmaker Doc Durden became frustrated with dealing with time constraints, sounds of traffic, motorcycles, and other background noises while filming in Virginia City, he decided to build his own adaptable movie set in a more secluded area.
With help from local actors and residents, Durden created an outdoor film set that features multiple façades to represent various Western-style buildings. The main wall features a two-story façade with a double-door entrance. The right side is a saloon façade with oversized swinging doors, and the left side is a bank with an 1800s look. Both ends can roll out, and inside, there is a common interior with a full bar on one side and a bank on the other. The center interior wall is also adjustable and can be moved to make either the saloon or the bank floor space larger or smaller.
