Are you looking for an 1800s western style setting for your production? If so, you may want to check out the historic Virginia & Truckee Railroad in Virginia City, NV.
Known as the “Queen of the Short Lines,” the V&T Railroad was one of the most profitable rail lines in the U.S. in the 1870s, delivering ore, lumber and mining supplies between Virginia City and Carson City.
V&T Railroad was abandoned in 1950 but it has since been restored and operates today as a heritage railway, running up to 7 trains a day that recreate railway scenes of the past.
Only 30 minutes from Reno/Tahoe International Airport, V&T Railroad has a beautiful mountain desert landscape. The film-friendly location also has diesel locomotives and work cars available for film crew to use.
A few productions that were filmed at V&T Railroad include Dead Man featuring Johnny Depp, Mark Twain’s America, and an episode of Santa Barbara.
