If you’re looking for a filming location with a very interesting history, you should check out Wendover Airfield, a training base for B-17 and B-24 bomber crews during World War II. The former Wendover Air Force Base is one of the most complete and intact World War II training airfields, which means that you can have actual World War II era structures in your production.

Many motion pictures and television shows were filmed at Wendover Airfield, including but not limited to:

Wendover is technically two separate municipalities, Wendover, UT and West Wendover, NV, but they share the same network and are very closely connected. Known as a “young city with an old history,” West Wendover is where Will Smith and the cast and crew of Independence Day stayed while doing Area 51 shots.

The genres of film you can produce here can range anywhere from science fiction to action, adventure, thriller and more. With the preservation and education efforts of Historic Wendover Airfield, who knows, you may be inspired to produce a documentary or even your own fictional story about the World War II experience.
