What Is the Abby Singer Shot?
The second-to-last shot before wrapping a set is called the Abby Singer Shot, named after the late Assistant Director Abby Singer who became known for giving the crew a head’s up on the second-to-last shot by calling out, “This, and one more.” This was because in television, the crew could move as many as five or six times during the day, traveling from one set or stage to another. Singer would call out the second-to-last shot so that the crew could prepare their equipment and get ready to move to the next set or stage quickly.
Singer’s communication efforts helped productions become much more efficient, even saving enough time on moving from one location to another that it could give directors another hour a day of shooting.

Fun Fact: The final shot before wrapping the set is called the “Martini Shot,” supposedly named so because the next shot would be out of a glass or at a bar.
