How Are Barricades / Traffic Control Used in the Film Industry?
Temporary traffic control through the use of barricades, signs, cones, and other channelizing devices help create a safe setting for film crew as well as the general public by rerouting everyday traffic around filming locations instead of allowing traffic through them. This includes foot traffic as well as vehicular traffic.
If there are scenes that require crashes, explosions, live animals, or other unusual production elements, traffic control barriers and personnel are vital to ensure that the public remain at a safe distance away from the filming location. Traffic control also allows a production’s cast and crew to work uninterrupted, which helps to minimize the amount of time spent working in a specific location that may need to be accessible at a later time in the day or week.
