What Does Hot Set Mean?

In film, the term “hot set” refers to a film set that is being actively used. Hot sets are labeled to prevent anyone from moving or rearranging items around the set in order to maintain continuity during filming.

Below are some common ways that hot sets are labeled:

While making sure that hot sets are labeled and left intact may not seem like a big job, it is actually one of the most important tasks that can save a production a tremendous amount of time and resources. This is because if something is misplaced or removed from an active film set, this could result in hours and hours of time being used to figure out how to get the set back to the way it was.

If you are looking for script supervisors to help maintain continuity for your production, expendables for labeling hot sets with barricade tape, or larger and more specialized crowd control barricades to keep the public out of an active film set, check out our online Nevada Production Directory to find experienced Nevada production crew or drop by our office and pick up a free printed directory!
