Production Notes: Set Medics

Why Are Set Medics Important?

Having medics on set helps to ensure that all cast and crew working on a production remain safe and that preventative measures are taken to limit the possibility of injury in high risk situations.

In addition to assessing risks involved in performing major stunts, fight scenes and water scenes, medics can also help determine potential medical hazards in the filming environment, such as asbestos in old buildings, heatstroke in scorching hot temperatures or frostbite in freezing cold weather conditions.

Set medics can also help with vaccination requirements needed for filming in foreign locations as well as vetting local hospitals, emergency transportation, and health clinics for quality of service and care.

In Nevada, we have locally certified and licensed medical professionals who offer a full range of medical services including CPR, first aid, AED, lifeguarding, trauma, emergency treatment, surgical cardiac / critical care, and much much more. Their credits include working on such productions as America Ninja Warrior, The Hangover Part III, Jason Bourne, Sharknado 4, The Trust, Here Comes the Boom, Mall Cop 2, Imagine Dragons Grammy Award in Downtown Las Vegas, The Bachelor – Season 20, and more.

With decades of production experience, including filming in remote locations, the crew listed in our Nevada Production Directory are top notch and well-equipped to handle any medical situation that may come up.
