What Does A Script Writing Consultant Do?
Also known as script doctors, script writing consultants (or script consultants) serve as professional editors and advisors on scripts. Some may also provide script rewriting and treatment services.
Script consultants study a script’s plot, structure, dialogue, characterization, tone, themes, genre, marketability, and more, providing constructive criticism for areas that need improvement. The feedback offered can be quite extensive and run several pages long, however, receiving the expert advice of an experienced professional is invaluable and can make all the difference in how your script reaches your target markets and whether or not it gets sold or produced.
It is always a good idea to find a professional who specializes in the type of production you are working on. For example, a television script writing consultant can offer specific insight as to what television audiences are looking for in onscreen characters as well as give guidance on how to keep television viewers captivated with your story not only throughout the entire program but particularly before each commercial break so that they tuned instead of moving on to a different program.
