Playing in theaters this Friday, May 18th, Deadpool 2 is the eleventh installment in the X-Men film series and the sequel to the 2016 American superhero film Deadpool. Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds as the Marvel Comics character Deadpool, a wisecracking, foul-mouthed mutant mercenary who forms a team of mutants to protect another young mutant from a time-traveling soldier Cable, played by Josh Brolin.
Deadpool 2 Soundtrack – “Ashes”
The film’s director, David Leitch, wanted to create an original theme song that was reminiscent of the classic ’90s style of emotional ballads like “My Heart Will Go On.” Music supervisor John Houlihan worked with Leitch to find the perfect song that could serve as an “emotional through-line” for the movie’s characters.
After discovering the song “Ashes” and showing it to Ryan Reynolds, Reynolds suggested reaching out to fellow Canadian icon Céline Dion, whose son is also a fan of Deadpool, to help bring the song to life. From there, the idea for a promotional music video for the film featuring Céline Dion and Deadpool was born.
