Mars Attacks! is a 1996 science fiction comedy based on the Mars Attacks trading card series released in 1962. Directed by Tim Burton and starring an ensemble cast consisting of Jack Nicholson, Glenn Close, Annette Bening, Pierce Brosnan, Danny DeVito, Martin Short, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michael J. Fox, Rod Steiger, Tom Jones, Lukas Haas, Natalie Portman, Jim Brown, Lisa Marie Smith, and Sylvia Sidney, Mars Attacks! is about Earth being invaded by Martians.

Nevada Filming Locations / Settings

Mars Attacks! was filmed throughout the U.S. in places such as Kansas, Arizona, and Washington D.C. but Nevada was featured as a major setting for the film as well.

Pahrump, NV

The Martians first land in Pahrump, NV, which is the home of famous radio talk show host Art Bell, known for his interest in extraterrestrial life and alien abduction.

Neon Boneyard

A scene was filmed at the Neon Boneyard with characters wandering through a collection of old neon signs.

Las Vegas Strip

The Las Vegas Strip was also used as a setting for an attack.

The Landmark Hotel and Casino

The Landmark was named “Galaxy Hotel” for the film and the real life demolition of the Landmark Tower on November 7, 1995 was incorporated into the movie.
