Scene In Nevada: Porsche Commercial

Porsche’s latest ad campaign for its first fully electric sports car, the Porsche Taycan, was designed to be a brainteaser that would get the public talking, and it did. The stunt spanned from London to the USA and generated excitement around electricity by giving it an emotional component.

Here is how it started:

On June 30th, a Twitter user called Electricity tweeted:

That night, the London Eye (Europe’s tallest cantilevered observation wheel) flashed randomly and emitted strange noises. Influencers and bloggers shared their videos online through social media and the next day, a Twitter user identified the message as Morse code. It was decoded as, “Hey Porsche, get me out on the road. Love, Electricity”.

Hey Porsche, watch this video. Love, Electricity” by Porsche

Soon afterwards on July 10th, a message was projected onto the wall of the Hoover Dam, “Hey Electricity, all that cold water making you numb? Get ready to feel again. Love, Porsche”.

Hey Electricity, get ready for the Taycan.” by Porsche

With this message, it became clear that Porsche was going to give electricity something more exciting to do – power the first electric sports car with the soul of a Porsche.

Soul, electrified. – The Porsche Taycan is coming.” by Porsche
