Ultra Tune is an Australian-owned franchise company that offers a full range of automotive services and roadside assistance. Founded in 1979, it is the largest independent automotive car servicing and repairer in Australia (source).

Over the past few decades, Ultra Tune has become known for stirring up a lot of controversy with their television advertisements. One of their most successful advertising themes that helped increase their tyre sales was the creation of the “Rubber Girls,” a small group of women who wear rubber latex suits and have the tagline “We’re into rubber.”

The first advertisement to feature the Rubber Girls was the most complained about ad in 2016 and the second most complained about ad of all time, according to the statistics provided by Advertising Standards Bureau in Australia (source). However, the complaints were dismissed in February 2017 after the Board determined that the advertisements did not breach any codes they adjudicate on.

Ultra Tune introduced the “Unexpected Situations” series in which the Rubber Girls find themselves in a variety of dangerous, outrageous, and ridiculously unlikely situations due to their vehicles failing them, but they are assisted by Ultra Tune technicians.

The most recent “Unexpected Situations” ad was filmed on location in Las Vegas, NV. The commercial features the Rubber Girls in an unfortunate situation after they swerve to avoid a tiger in the road, and world boxing champion Mike Tyson shows up.
