Flip or Flop Vegas is an HGTV television series hosted by contractor Bristol Marunde and his wife, real estate agent and designer Aubrey. The couple began flipping homes in 2009 and were contacted to film a reality television show when Bristol’s before-and-after photos of their renovation projects on Instagram caught the attention of HGTV producers (source).
Bristol is a former MMA fighter who had previously been a contestant on another reality television show based out of Las Vegas, NV – UFC’s The Ultimate Fighter. Having already had his fill of reality television, Bristol was hesitant to accept HGTV’s offer, but in the end, he and Aubrey decided that it was a great opportunity for both of them to continue doing what they love.
Aubrey handles the real estate transactions as well as the design and ordering of products while Bristol is one hundred percent hands-on with the construction side of things. One of the unique aspects that Aubrey brings to their projects is her “Vegas glam” style. She has a talent for sourcing lavish design materials from big-name hotel and casino properties at inexpensive prices. Together, the two have flipped more than 150 houses since they started.
The series premiere aired on April 6, 2017, successfully “delivering 2.5 million total viewers during its pilot episode,” and the show has already been renewed for a second 16-episode season.
“When you blend the Marundes’ business savvy and fun chemistry with an electric city like Las Vegas, you’ve got a winner,” said John Feld, senior vice president of programming for HGTV, DIY Network and Great American Country (source).
