When the State Park System was first created by the Nevada Legislature in 1935, Beaver Dam State Park was among the first four state parks established. It is also the most remote park in Eastern Nevada where even cell phone service and power is hard to come by. Encompassing more than 2,000 acres, the park lies on the Nevada/Utah state line approximately 25 miles east of Caliente, NV. It was named after the beavers that heavily populated the area during its early days.
Beaver Dam State Park offers fishing, hiking trails, campgrounds, and picnicking facilities along with lovely natural features such as deep canyons, volcanic hills made up of pink rhyolite, red and gray andesite, and white ash-fall tufts, dense wooded forests, beautiful streams and waterfalls, and a 360° view of the park via the Overlook Trail. From beavers to coyotes, foxes, mountain lions, bobcats, mule deer, turkeys, porcupines, herons, snakes, lizards, and more, the multitude of wildlife that can be found here has helped designate the park as a Watchable Wildlife Area.

If you are looking for a peaceful and remote wilderness filming location that is largely undeveloped, be sure to check out Beaver Dam State Park. High clearance vehicles are highly recommended to reach the park via a gravel and dirt road. As there are also some switchbacks on the road, vehicles and trailers longer than 25 feet long are not recommended.
