Originally founded on December 5, 1992 as the Citizens Area Transit, RTC Transit is a subsidiary of the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada. With 51 routes and more than 3,900 stops, RTC Transit has a daily ridership of about 178,390 people on any given weekday between its 4 stations (source).
Due to the 24-hour nature of Las Vegas’s casino and hospitality industry, Las Vegas has developed one of the most comprehensive night bus networks in the U.S., and the 24-hour RTC Bonneville Transit Center in particular is touted for having detailed security patrol and an immaculate facility.
The $17 million Bonneville Transit Center broke ground in 2009 in downtown Las Vegas and was designed to accommodate people taking a variety of transportation methods by creating preferred parking for hybrid vehicles, parking spaces for bicycles, and air-conditioned waiting areas for bus passengers. It was also designed to be as green as possible, utilizing solar power and water-efficient landscaping.

The RTC Bike Center is one of the most prominent features of the transit center as at the time that the Bonneville Transit Center was being constructed, RTC buses were carrying approximately 60,000 bicycles a month. The RTC Bike Center even includes cyclist showers and a bicycle repair shop.
Other features of the RTC Bonneville Transit Center include:
- 21 Transit Bays
- Restrooms
- Security Offices
- Customer Service Windows
- Waiting Room
- Ticket Vending Machines
- RTC Transit Administration Offices
- WiFi
- Bicycle Racks and Lockers
Needless to say, RTC Transit has made a name for itself in Las Vegas and the Bonneville Transit Center was even scouted for the film Jason Bourne.
