Every year, the Nevada Film Office launches a new FILManthropy initiative that focuses on giving back to the community through various charities that are near and dear to our hearts. Last year, our FILManthropy cause was to walk and raise money for the American Cancer Society in loving memory of our own Operations Coordinator Veronica Quarles, who lost her battle with cancer last year.

Noah’s Animal House

This year, our FILManthropy cause is for Noah’s Animal House, a non-profit organization with shelters located in Reno and Las Vegas. Noah’s Animal House provides veterinary care, protection, and shelter for the furry family members of domestic violence victims while they focus on taking care of themselves and getting back on their feet without having to worry about their four-legged companions.

In many situations that involve families with pets, victims of domestic abuse are afraid to leave or seek assistance due to the abuser threatening to harm or kill the family pet. Noah’s Animal House was built on the grounds of The Shade Tree shelter in 2007 in order to provide safety and security for women and children who also have pets they want to protect. The Shade Tree provides safe shelter to homeless and abused women and children in crisis as well as life-changing services promoting stability, dignity, and self-reliance.

From May 15th to June 15th, the Nevada Film Office is collecting donations for the following items which will help Noah’s Animal House continue to provide our local Nevada community with this much needed safe haven:
