Battle Mountain Airport, also known as Lander County Airport, is located just 3 miles southeast of Battle Mountain, NV. This public aviation airport is owned by Lander County and operated by the Battle Mountain Airport Authority. With two runways each at a length of 7300 feet, it is appropriate for anything from small props and luxury jets to large and regional airliners. The 1066-acre airport also has two 60×60 ft helipads.

Battle Mountain Airport was built in 1942 by the United States Army Air Forces. It was originally known as the Battle Mountain Flight Strip, and it was primarily used as an emergency landing airfield by the Reno Army Air Base on military aircraft training flights.

Fun Fact: The airstrip at Battle Mountain was used as a setting by American writer and aviator Dale Brown in his aviation techno-thriller novel, Battle Born.

The airport is also known as being the homeland of the Battle Mountain Air Attack Base, run by the Bureau of Land Management. The Air Attack Base provides air tanker support to help suppress and contain fires in Northern Nevada. The Nevada Division of Forestry also operates an air tanker base out of Battle Mountain Airport (source).

The Battle Mountain Airport boasts quick and friendly services as well as clean facilities and 24-hour on-call service for fuel services.
