Where Was Magnolia Filmed in Nevada?
Although Magnolia was primarily filmed in California, Anderson wanted to pay homage to his favorite Nevada film Melvin and Howard as well as return to the same area where he shot his first feature, Hard Eight.
The opening gambling scene of Magnolia was filmed at the Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks, NV. It was referred to as the Nugget Hotel and Casino in Reno in the film (source).
