Scene In Nevada: Outdoor Nevada

Outdoor Nevada is a television show that originally aired from 1995 to 1999. It recently got picked up again in 2016 with a new television host, John Burke. Through outdoor adventures, the production explores Nevada’s diverse cultural and natural history, showcasing the people and the sites that make Nevada one of the most intriguing places in the world to visit. From hot desert climates to snowy mountain ranges, desolate ghost towns, mysterious caverns and more, varied environments throughout the different regions of Nevada offer a plethora of opportunities to experience the beautiful state in unique ways.

Season 1 of the revamped series premiered on Wednesday, January 27, 2016. Vegas PBS developed 26 half-hour episodes that featured activities such as skydiving in Las Vegas, four-wheeling in Moapa, and scuba diving at Lake Tahoe (source). An episode from the first season about the Reno cattle drive earned the production a regional Emmy award nomination for “historical/cultural documentary” (source).

Season 2 of Outdoor Nevada recently premiered on May 10, 2017 on Vegas PBS (Channel 10). The 10-episode season features exciting experiences such as land sailing through Jean Dry Lake Bed, water flying at Lake Tahoe, digging for gems at the Royal Peacock Opal Mines, and more.
