In 1832, the passage of the Pioneer Inn and Tavern Law allowed inns and saloons to serve alcohol without requiring the customer to rent a room for the night. With that, nearly every early settlement across the Old West found themselves catering to miners, trappers, and cowboys with one or more saloons. Below are three of many historic Nevada saloons that are film-friendly:

The Original Bucket of Blood Saloon

Established: 1876 in Virginia City, NV
Features a house band performing live music and locals dressed in period Old West costumes.

Pioneer Saloon

Established: 1913 in Goodsprings, NV
Filmography includes Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous, Travel Channel’s Ghost Adventures, National Geographic’s Diggers, TLC’s Sister Wives, Melvin and Howard, Things are Tough All Over, The Winner, and more.

The Pioneer Saloon was also used as a filming location for the 2015 “Don’t Fence Me In” TravelNevada ad campaign and served as the inspiration for the Prospector Saloon in the video game Fallout: Las Vegas.

Genoa Bar & Saloon
