Opened November 2013, Downtown Container Park is a 50,000 square foot outdoor shopping and entertainment venue in Downtown Las Vegas.

If you’ve never been to Downtown Container Park, it is a sight to behold. Visitors are greeted at the park’s entrance by a 40 foot long, fire-breathing Mantis. The gigantic art project was originally built for Burning Man in 2012 but has since made its permanent home in Downtown Las Vegas.

Downtown Container Park was an idea brought about by Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos, as part of his larger expansion and revitalization project known as Downtown Project. Construction of the park took two years to complete and features a style of architecture known as “Cargotecture.”

The park showcases a vibrant array of shopping boutiques and restaurants made up of 43 re-purposed, various-sized shipping containers. The shipping containers are what give the park its distinctive name. The park also features an observation tower, an immersive, ultra-HD, 360° 4K-visual dome entertainment experience, a children’s playground, and a stage for live performances.

Other unique features include a 3-story container elevator, 40 foot high climbing container, a concrete “living tree” topped with live plants, and a tube slide that displays sensory experiences.
