Named after the title of Tupac’s fourth studio album, the 2017 biographical film All Eyez on Me tells the story of prolific rapper, actor, poet, and activist Tupac Shakur (aka 2Pac). Starring Demetrius Shipp Jr. as Tupac, the film highlights the rap legend’s most intimate relationships, his rise to fame and growth as an artist, and his passion for mobilizing others in social justice movements.
Watch the official first trailer below, which was released on what would have been Tupac’s 45th birthday:

The production was announced in early 2011, and principal photography began in Atlanta, GA in mid-December 2015. Filming wrapped in Las Vegas, NV on April 12, 2016 at the same intersection of Flamingo Road and Koval Lane where the late rapper was fatally shot on September 7, 1996. Tupac died a few days later from his injuries, and his murder remains unsolved to this day.
After filming wrapped, Clark County Commissioner Lawrence Weekly paid a visit to the set and brought with him a proclamation thanking the cast, crew, and CEO of Morgan Creek Productions for bringing the production to the city of Las Vegas (source).
All Eyez On Me opened in theaters on June 16, 2017, a year after the first trailer was released. As part of the promotion for the film, Codeblack Films partnered with Cine-Transformer to tour the country with a 53-foot mobile cinema and offer fans a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the movie. “The All Eyez on Me Experience” Cine-Transformer Tour also included a stop in Las Vegas (source).
