Known as The Riverwalk District, the Reno Riverwalk is the heart of downtown Reno. The city of Reno was established right next to the first bridge to cross the Truckee River in the late 1800s. By the mid-1900s, Reno had become famous for gaming & nightlife, and the river that ran through it took a backseat to the glitz and glamor of downtown.

In the 1990s, the city created The Raymond I. Smith Truckee River Walk, which brought new attention to Reno’s scenic river corridor. Today, local merchants are proud to welcome you back to The Riverwalk District to celebrate the beautiful place where Reno began.

Reno’s Riverwalk District is the home of monthly wine, beer, and art walks. It’s a fun and unique attraction in Reno’s vibrant downtown area, and locals will attest to its beauty and popularity. It’s not uncommon to stumble into a free concert or event, and it even made Travel and Leisure’s list of “America’s Coolest River Walks”.

The scenic and lively downtown river district is home to a variety of retail shops, bistros and cafés, lodging, bars, taverns, indoor and outdoor entertainment venues, and even the Truckee River Whitewater Park, a $1.5 million park more than 2,600 feet long that attracts kayakers, rafters, swimmers and water enthusiasts alike looking to test out the class II to III rapids as well as the 11 drop pools.

For the less adventurous, you will also find the Nevada Museum of Art, the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts, and the National Automobile Museum which features a 1936 Mercedes-Benz Roadster worth more than $3 million.

Aside from that, you will find many art structures and murals that make for a great day of sightseeing or an excellent backdrop for your film production or photography shoot.
