Scene In Nevada: White Boy Rick

Partially filmed in Las Vegas, NV, White Boy Rick is a soon-to-be-released crime drama based on the true story of a teenager who was a street hustler turned FBI informant and later drug dealer all before he turned 16 years old. Starring Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Bel Powley, and Richie Merritt, the film follows the life of a blue collar father Richard Wershe Sr. (played by McConaughey) and his son Richard Wershe Jr., aka “White Boy Rick” (played by Merritt), in 1980s Detroit at the height of the crack epidemic and War on Drugs.

Wershe Jr. was ultimately arrested and sentenced to life in prison for drug trafficking after he was abandoned by his handlers. He is currently Michigan’s longest serving prisoner for a non-violent crime.
