Not only is the world’s first real superhero training center headquartered in the state of Nevada, it’s also a filming location!

The Superhero Foundry in Las Vegas, NV has been around since 2016. This school teaches real life self-defense and how to handle dangerous situations in the everyday world.

It was created by Dr. TJ Cuenca, a former dentist who injured his hand and could no longer continue dentistry. Also a martial arts and weapons expert, Cuenca decided to open the Superhero Foundry to help teach adults and children alike how to channel their innner superhero.

New recruits must take seven tests to assess their vision, hearing, speed, pain tolerance, and even psychic powers to help discover any hidden or unusual powers they might possess. Students are then trained in weapons-based martial arts like knife throwing and stick sparring, survival parkour, archery, climbing, leadership, personal development, Nevada laws regarding self-defense, property rights, concealed weapons, and more.

Students are encouraged to develop their own superhero persona, complete with a costume to help protect them against attacks and an arsenal of tools they can use to protect themselves and others in dangerous situations. However, all training is reinforced with an ethical perspective to not do unnecessary harm and only employ nonlethal tactics.

As far as the location itself, this 2,000 sq. ft. modified warehouse includes a variety of exotic weapons on display, 19′ ceilings, two 14′ roll up doors, 32 feet of carpeted bleacher seating, five 10 meter long lanes for knife and axe throwing, and a 750 sq. ft. office / retail area. It also features plenty of outdoor parking and little traffic in the area after 6pm and on weekends.

Located just 5 minutes from the McCarran Airport, the Superhero Foundry is also a popular practice location for international magicians like David Blaine, Jonathan Goodwin, Jonathan Pendragon, and more.

What makes the Superhero Foundry an even more unique filming location is that you also get access to Cuenca and his wife Melody, who is an eleven-time world knife and tomahawk throwing champion and multiple world-record holder. The couple has extensive experience in the film and television industry, having appeared in several films, commercials, and stunt shows. They have also choreographed fight scenes as well as trained real life law enforcement and U.S. Special Forces operatives.
