Scene In Nevada: The Killers

Scene In Nevada - The Killers

The Killers is a rock band that was formed in Las Vegas, NV in 2001 by Brandon Flowers. The Killers have gone on to achieve world wide fame and have received many awards and nominations over the years including 7 Grammy nominations, the American Music Awards – New Artist of the Year in 2005 and the ASCAP Vanguard Award in 2010 for their musical genre’s “impact on the future of American music”.

In 2016, The Killers partnered with TravelNevada to resurrect the Cole Porter song, “Don’t Fence Me In” as part of a series of commercials for their “Don’t Fence Me In” ad campaign.

Several of the bands’ most popular songs were also filmed here in Las Vegas.

The Killers – Boots

This one is actually a Christmas song originally released on Nov. 30, 2010 while the band was on hiatus. All proceeds of the sales go to AIDS charities as part of the (RED) program.

The video premiered exclusively on the Starbucks website on Dec. 1, 2010 (World AIDS Day) and Starbucks donated 5 cents towards the cause for every view.

THE KILLERS – All These Things I’ve Done

This song is often played as a closer for their concerts and like “Mr. Brightside”, “All These Things I’ve Done” had two videos shot. The first video featured the band singing while walking with a crowd down Brick Lane in London.

The second video (below) was filmed in Las Vegas and features a dream-like sequence of the band dressed as cowboys and attacked by female warriors armed with boomerangs.

*TIP* The story in the video is told out of order, but can be put in its order by the numbers displayed in the video.

THE KILLERS – Shot At Night

“Shot At Night” was the first single from the band’s first greatest hits album, “Direct Hits” in 2013. The song tells the story of a bored maid (at The Cosmopolitan Hotel & Casino) who gets swept off her feet by a handsome man after a chance encounter on the Las Vegas Strip.

The video features some famous Las Vegas landmarks such as Treasure Island, The Stratosphere, The Cosmopolitan, Luxor,  Caesars, and even Downtown Las Vegas.
